"For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. Under his wings will he protect you, and in his pinions you will have assurance; his truth will be your shield. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the flying arrow by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at midday" (Ps. 91:3-6).

Post Cards and Gift Tags

At the looks of this, one would say I'm moving. Well, that would be correct! Boxes everywhere. Surprisingly though, packing up has been a source of inspiration for me. Whilst packing, I'm also finishing a baby blanket, creating a cookbook, and finishing two paintings. (OK, I realize that is a bit insane since moving truck is coming TOMORROW!)

Anyways, I walked by Old Town Liquors and was able to get many many boxes to pack up my things (vodka boxes are perfect for packing up heavy dishes). Inside most of the boxes were the cardboard dividers. I couldn't seem to put them out for recycling and instead, kept them to make these:

Simply cutting them to postcard size and glueing on fabulous pictures from an old encyclopedia that I bought at the thrift store for 2 bucks make for a great gift and greeting. Then, using the cut-off ends, find smaller pictures and in less than a couple minutes, you've got post cards and gift tags!

Knit Knook #2

I have been working on this wee baby blanket for months. My slow pace has been due to genuine business, but I am grateful that today I can say it is complete! The shape isn't quite what I had envisioned, but I love the variance of pinks and because I used lambs wool, it is so very soft. I call this a lovie- with intentions that the child, in this case- baby Isis, carries it around and loves on it.

Bottle Top Gift Tag

I love old milk bottle tops. They have such a neat look and they are hard to find these days. I did find some though, and I've recently discovered that they make great gift tags. Have a look:

(Please pardon the mess of boxes in the background. I'm moving & it's becoming more and more obvious as boxes are everywhere.)

My Helen

Helen, my grandmother, was born in 1918. A few weeks ago, my family discovered in the attic, one of her homework assignments from when she was a little girl. I couldn't resist making it a treasure and I got a frame for it today.
